Eclipse 2027 Spain is an independent planning project for the 2 August 2027 total solar eclipse. It combines astronomy, maps and practical travel planning, with Spain as the specialist focus and the wider path available for comparison.

Who is behind it

An independent project

This site is independently built and maintained by the publisher of eclipse2027spain.com. It is not an official IGN, CNIG, NASA, tourism-board, Booking.com or local-government website, and none of those organisations controls our editorial choices.

Editorial goal

Useful before impressive

The goal is not just to explain what an eclipse is. We want to help visitors compare locations, understand totality duration, evaluate weather and transport risk, choose a base and make robust backup plans.

Methodology

How we calculate and verify eclipse data

Official geometry

For Spain, we use Instituto Geográfico Nacional / CNIG material as the official reference for the eclipse path and published headline circumstances.

Point calculations

Our Eclipse Explorer and ranking use Astronomy Engine to calculate local circumstances from latitude and longitude in the browser/build process.

Cross-checking

We cross-check important values against established eclipse references such as IGN and Timeanddate, and use NASA/GSFC eclipse-path tables for the global corridor.

Important: city timings are planning values for representative coordinates. The exact local circumstances vary with your precise location. The Explorer should be used for point-specific calculations.

Corrections

Something wrong or outdated?

Eclipse circumstances are stable, but access, accommodation, parking, events, traffic plans and local rules can change. We want corrections to be easy to report and visible updates to be dated.

Current disclosure status

Updated 11 August 2026. Booking.com accommodation searches now use the project’s CJ affiliate tracking, with destination-specific tracking IDs and clear disclosure in the city guides. Newsletter infrastructure is implemented; production activation and privacy/controller details are still being finalised before collecting subscriber data.
